Preparing for Your Exam

What Makes A Good Exam?

  • A good nightís sleep.

  • No alcoholic beverages for at least 24 hours and no caffeine for at least 4 hours before the appointment.

  • No food or drink (other than water) for at least 4 hours before the appointment.

  • No strenuous exercise for at least 2 hours prior to the exam (includes but not limited to running, jogging, and weightlifting).

  • Drinking a lot of water so you can void a urine specimen.

  • Listing in advance any primary care physicians, phone numbers, dates last seen, medications and treatments prescribed; also list the same information for any major illness or accident.

  • Having a picture ID readily available (Driverís license is best)
